Thanks to Deana and Frank for crafting a wonderful & restorative stay in the Captain's Nest! After a couple tough years in Washington, DC, we were looking for a special place to celebrate our milestone birthdays. Bunbeg and County Donegal more than exceeded our expectations, and we loved touring Arranmore Island with Frank. The perfect sunny weather (what luck!), incredible views, warm hospitality, and deep historical and cultural wealth of this place will stay with us for a long time. We also saw an otter swimming and diving outside on our first morning – an auspicious sign for a fantastic holiday and hopefully a return in the near future!

The views are to die for any time of the day or night, and the cottage gives you the opportunity to just breathe and be. Loved Arranmore – swimming, walking, and just chilling out.

From Bunbeg harbour, wind and rain,
to cliffs and beaches, again and again.
We drove the coast, wherever it led,
and loved the wild view straight from our bed.
Frank showed us Arranmore, rugged and bright,
with Atlantic waves and Donegal light.
From 'Wild Ireland' and creatures to see,
to Donegal tweed and its history.
We learned that Irish weather does what it may –
and a peat fire keeps the cold away.
There was wonderful food, 0.0 cider too,
and even the bathroom gave us something new!

Unique Cobblestone cottage with WiFi on charming Arranmore Island

We had a fantastic time at the Cobblestone Cottage. The views were spectacular, and the cottage was cozy, especially when we had a fire going in the fireplace and candles lit on the tables. The place was exceptionally clean and beautiful. Deana and Frank both helped us a lot with planning and preparation for our trip, and by the time we left the island they felt like friends. The bathtub filled quickly with hot water and there were amazing skin care products made in Ireland with seaweed and other natural ingredients. The outdoor shower was fun, too.We opted in to a tour with Frank in the Land Cruiser, and we also ordered a couple of bottles of wine from the cellar, and those extras really added a lot to our experience of the island. The Cobblestone Cottage is truly a world class accommodation and we’re looking forward to returning again and again.

we really enjoyed our stay in this historic cosy cottage...we had cosy evenings in by the log fire and cooked in the lovely kitchen, lit the candles and soaked in the bath with the locally produced bath salts provided.
so many little thoughtful details made this a stand out stay.
we would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a place to chill out. there are coffee shops,good pubs and decent food shops all within a few minutes drive.

The Captain’s Nest is more than a place to stay, it is a place to feel. You can sense the history in the morning mist and old wooden ships in the harbor. We felt connected not only to this home, but to the generations of Donegalese who’ve filled it with warmth, character, and county pride.

My week at the Cobblestone Cottage on Arranmore Island off the coast of Donegal is already coming to an end 🇨🇮 I’ve rarely felt so welcome. Deana has created a true gem here, an authentic Irish haven with the most spectacular view.
