Our Story
A Family Story Rooted in Donegal
Cobblestone Cottage was born from a love of Donegal, a deep connection to Arranmore Island, and a belief that travel should be personal, meaningful, and restorative. Our founder, Deana, grew up in America, but her connection to Ireland runs far deeper than geography. Through her McBride family roots in Donegal and her husband’s Gallagher family ties to Arranmore Island, Ireland, has always been part of her family’s story.
More than thirty years ago, she first visited Donegal and immediately fell in love with its rugged coastline, dramatic Atlantic views, traditional way of life, and welcoming communities. What began as a short visit gradually became something much more. Over the years, Donegal became a second home filled with friendships, family memories, and a growing appreciation for the traditions and landscapes that make this corner of Ireland so special.
That connection inspired the creation of Cobblestone Cottage. The vision was simple: to lovingly restore traditional Irish cottages by the sea, honour their history, and create intimate, bespoke stays that allow guests to experience Donegal in a genuine and meaningful way.
