This lovingly restored historic famine cottage is perched on a rock above Bunbeg Harbor with stunning views of the harbor and the mighty Atlantic Ocean just around the bend from the Coast Guard Station. Our quaint cottage is the quintessential Irish Stone Cottage. The Captain’s Nest is made for couples or a small group of friends who want to spend an intimate time in a cozy cottage by the sea. The Nest boasts amazing views from every window and comes with a fully fitted kitchen and sitting room with cozy fire, and a beautiful garden area with outdoor fire pit for relaxing on your perch above the harbor.

Unique Cobblestone cottage with WiFi on charming Arranmore Island

We had a fantastic time at the Cobblestone Cottage. The views were spectacular, and the cottage was cozy, especially when we had a fire going in the fireplace and candles lit on the tables. The place was exceptionally clean and beautiful. Deana and Frank both helped us a lot with planning and preparation for our trip, and by the time we left the island they felt like friends. The bathtub filled quickly with hot water and there were amazing skin care products made in Ireland with seaweed and other natural ingredients. The outdoor shower was fun, too.We opted in to a tour with Frank in the Land Cruiser, and we also ordered a couple of bottles of wine from the cellar, and those extras really added a lot to our experience of the island. The Cobblestone Cottage is truly a world class accommodation and we’re looking forward to returning again and again.

we really enjoyed our stay in this historic cosy cottage...we had cosy evenings in by the log fire and cooked in the lovely kitchen, lit the candles and soaked in the bath with the locally produced bath salts provided.
so many little thoughtful details made this a stand out stay.
we would definitely recommend to anyone seeking a place to chill out. there are coffee shops,good pubs and decent food shops all within a few minutes drive.

This cottage on Arranmore Island honestly feels like someone stepped inside my mind and built my dream cottage. From the cosy open fire, to the sea views, the shelves of old books… and that unreal HOT outdoor shower — every little detail was perfection.

The Captain’s Nest is more than a place to stay, it is a place to feel. You can sense the history in the morning mist and old wooden ships in the harbor. We felt connected not only to this home, but to the generations of Donegalese who’ve filled it with warmth, character, and county pride.
Thank you Deana, for restoring such a wonderful home and sharing it with us. We are grateful to have been part of it’s story, if only for a few days. We wish we could have stayed longer.

My week at the Cobblestone Cottage on Arranmore Island off the coast of Donegal is already coming to an end 🇨🇮 I’ve rarely felt so welcome. Deana has created a true gem here, an authentic Irish haven with the most spectacular view.
I spent the days writing, reading, painting, walking, and sitting by the fire with endless cups of tea — if you are looking for a place to embrace slow living again and to recharge - this is it 🔥. Even a few days in this peaceful place filled me up again for the season ahead.

Captain's Nest Cottage in Bunbeg Harbour is pure storybook charm. My wife and I had a magical three-day stay, waking to harbour views, peat fire warmth, and evenings watching the Atlantic sky fade. A true Donegal gem where time slows and every view feels like art.
